Happy New Year (& a question/favor)
Happy New Year! Hope you guys all had a good holiday season. I have seen evidence that some of you have even enjoyed part of the festive season at my parents house... ex.
I was in northern England and southern Scotland for my break. Lots of rolling green hills, sheep, Brits, etc. I at haggis. Twice. I thought it was really good. (I'm inside the middle phone booth.)
In other news... I'm having trouble with my DVD drive and have no idea why. It just refuses to read/recognize certain DVDs. Sometimes it seems like it says it's a region thing, but only with certain DVDs. And I can still play all my Polish DVDs. I'm very confused. If you have any advise whatsoever that might help, please let me know.
Aight... 'tis all for now. Have a good 2007. I hope to see you all in California for the next holiday season.

My guess is that most of us don't really have much knowledge with DVD encoding... I don't recall if my DVD player worked with the last Polish DVD I bought =P
i know you have that software so you don't have to worry about region codes, but it sounds like the software didn't work. If you play a dvd that's not region 1 (U.S.), then you can play up to 5 times or something, and then your player gets locked permanently to that region.
